As you begin your planning phase, I suggest doing the following things:
- Read everything on this site. See if you still want to do the loop. We’d love more people to come live the looper lifestyle, but we want to make sure you’re really informed about what you’re committing to. It’s not all roses, and there’s some actual danger involved, both for you and those around you.
- Join the AGLCA. It’s like 100$/year or something nontrivial, but you get access to a forum, harbor hosts, an organization that will fight for you (and does), and a bunch of information that’s fairly indispensable.
- Read Captain John’s online guide, and buy his book. There’s a bunch of great experience and useful information in there, and the book is a really useful reference to try to distinguish between marinas in little towns.
- If you can stomach a variety of incredibly ill-informed posts mixed in with some great information, and you haven’t yet quit Zuck’s brainwashing cesspool, join the official Facebook group and/or the unofficial one.
